Committed To Becoming More Age-Friendly
Bad Nauheim Germany
As a recognized City of Health with a high proportion of older residents, Bad Nauheim has long prioritized the needs of people aged 60 and over. Since 1990, the city has supported this focus through the “Senior Citizens’ Office,” now operating as the Life in Old Age department within the Family Office.
The Family Office serves as a central contact point for social issues, offering guidance on family, children, youth, inclusion, and participation, as well as early parental support through the E.v.A. program. It also coordinates a wide range of recreational, sports, and educational activities for all generations.
A central venue for senior-focused programs is the Erika Pitzer Community Center, which hosts events, workshops, and exercise classes organized by the city, local clubs, and older adult associations. The Family Office also organizes excursions, lectures, training sessions, and social gatherings for older adults.
Many activities are planned in cooperation with: 1) Müfaz – Mothers and Family Center & Multi-Generation House; 2) Volunteer Center – Active for Bad Nauheim e.V.; 3) Neighborhood Assistance Bad Nauheim e.V.; 4) Senior Citizens’ Advisory Council Bad Nauheim. These intergenerational programs foster social inclusion and help combat loneliness.
Information on current topics, events, and support services for older residents is published twice a year in the magazine “Senioreninformation Bad Nauheim”, including a dedicated “Tips and Help” section with an overview of local and regional support services.
The Life in Old Age department also works closely with the Inclusion department, which promotes equal participation across all age and social groups. Its initiatives include an annual Inclusion Week, a regular Inclusion Round Table, and the Bad Nauheim Inclusion Handbook.
Together, these efforts reflect Bad Nauheim’s commitment to an inclusive, age-friendly community.
